Business and EconomyWhile small businesses have struggled to survive the last decade in the face of cooperatives, the need and desire for a more personal service means that there are still gaps in the market for those with an independent entrepreneurial spirit to engage in more new start ups and franchises. Hence in the UK the number of new start ups was at its highest level in 20 years in 2007 with 471,500 showing an increase of 17% since Barclays began monitoring the figures in 1988. Part of the reason for the increase is due to the new company formation relating to the construction industry boom which is reaching its peak and contributes to 20% of this, as well as the ongoing improvement of Health, Education & Social Work which contributes 19%.

However on the other side of the coin, increased closures of 498,900 showed an equivalent percentage rate of 17% over only the last two years which is very high by historical standards. Despite this entrepreneurs remain optimistic, with the UK’s population viewing British Climate as good as the USA which holds the gold standard by which other countries are usually measured.A great many sociologists declare progress in information technology to be the primary factor driving the development of civilization. The invention of the world wide web, e-mail and the mobile phone have made it possible to conduct business conferences while the delegates are seated safely in several different countries, making business travel less of a necessity. With increasing oil prices, transport costs and the detrimental effect of air travel on the environment being matters of critical concern, conscientious businesses are embracing the web cam while saving the company thousands in cash and time.

Business and Economy 2Many businesses and commercial organisations are now looking beyond their familiar environment to solutions which thanks to the internet and cheaper business telephone and broad band rates are now within easier reach. It is increasingly common for UK companies to establish links with overseas providers for permanent and contractual arrangements to fulfill their need for specialised human resource solutions in particular within the areas of industry and information technology.

Outsourcing can also be a solution on a domestic scale, and many a small business finds it more practical to outsource work to experts, particularly when beginning a new enterprise. Outsourcing can be the answer to problems such as lack of space for staff, the costs of advertising, the hazards of taking on staff, and lack of efficiency.

In light of these facts companies large and small are able to access experts in every field in order to bring their projects in to fruition. The scope for development of enterprise has never been greater, with resources available to access quite literally at ones fingertips, and so it is likely that, contrary to some opinions, both corporations and individuals in the UK will continue and maintain expansion in their commercial industrial and professional dealings.
