
A cursory glance at the flurry of forecasts by major institutions makes gloomy reading, with an estimated fall in house prices during 2008 ranging between a ‘modest’ 10% and a whopping 16%+. One particularly depressing survey by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors reported that the current property market is the worst it has been for the last 30 years, with less than 1 house per week being sold by many estate agents in 2008.
